Every January the Federation Baleares organizes three different competitions named Semana Master Palma de Mallorca. This year they were organized in honour of Pedro Carbonell, three time world champ, four time euroafrican champ and eight time spanish champ. The first day was reserved for national teams, the second day is for teams with no limits and the third one is for spearos with invitation. This year's innovation was competition of brands, as CMAS World Cup for Brands. Eight brand teams were competing together with three nations on CMAS World Cup for Nations. From next year on only the World Cup for Brands will exist.
II CMAS World Cup for Nations
Spain with Xavi Blanco, Samuel Tomas and Santiago Lopez won the II CMAS World cup for nations with 29120 points. Spain had 24 fish (3 cups): an 1.585gr grey mullet (the biggest fish), 15 white seabreams, 3 salemas, 2 green wrasses, 1 brown wrasse, 1 brown meagre and a seabass. Second came Greece with Tasis Peroulis, Lambros Dertilis and Elias Sakavitsis.
Greece collected 18055 points with 15 fish. Third came San Marino of Domenico Macaluso, Ricardo Carmelo and Davide Bruni with 8 fish and 9995 points. San Marino caught the biggest fish of the World cup for nations, a dentex of 1.605gr.

Cressi Team, with Daniel Gospic, Jose Luis Fernandes and Oscar Hidalgo won the first World Cup for brands. Cressi Team prevailed with 34 fish (5 cups) and 53540 points. Their biggest catch was a 2.375 gr dusky grouper. They also caught 1 moray, 1 sharpsnout seabream, 2 red scorpionfish, 2 brown wrasses, 1 green wrasse, 3 brown meagres, 1 silver seabream, 9 grey mullets and 15 white seabreams.
Pathos Team with Giacomo de Mola, Oscar Lopez Martin and Kostas Makris finished second with 31500 points. French team Immersion mares JFE of Eugene Guillom, Aurelien Bouzon and Stephan Foppolo, won the third place with 27295 points. The French team also caught the biggest fish of the World Cup for brands, a dusky grouper of 2.565 gr.

Team Licoretas of Samuel Tomas, Raul Astorga and Oscar Cervantes were
the best out of 43 teams at the XVII Open City of Palma – VI Memorial Sebastia Carbonell. In six hours the Spanish trio caught 14 fish (4 cups): 2 congers, 1 moray, 1 dentex, 1 grey mullet, 3 red scorpionfish, 3 brown meagres, 5 white seabreams and a 3.065gr dusky grouper their heaviest one. That catch brought tem 36415 points.
Second came the Beauchat Spain team of Avelino Sans, Joan Marques and Oliver Guerra with 27710 points (1 cup). Beuchat Spain caught the biggest fish of the Open, a white grouper weighing 10.915 gr. After last year's second plave, Pathos International team of Giacomo de Mola, Oscar Lopez Martin and Kostas Makris came third place with 24185 points (1 cup).

Master is from the begining a competition where you can participate if you are an ex-world champ, an ex-winner of Master, between the first ten of the last World championship or if you have an invitation from the organisation. This year, as Federacion balear established the new Cup for brands, one member of each brand team got an invitation. A special invitation also went to one japanese fisherman, Seiei Shimoji, who came for first time in Palma de Mallorca. Shimoji, 64 years old professional fisherman from Okinawa is very popular in documentaries in Japan. In his country, spearfishing is not considered a sport and you may catch fish with a speargun only if you are a professional fisherman.
The best out of 16 competitors at Master was Oscar Cervantes who, once more after the Open, won the first place. Cervantes catch was 16 fish (3 cups): 2 congers, 1 moray, 1 red scorpionfish, 1 grey mullet, 1 brown meagre, 1 black seabream, 5 white seabreams, 1 green wrasse and 3 St.Peter's fish - with the heaviest weighing 2.425 gr. This was the second time that Cervantes became a "Maestro".
Three time Master winner Croatian champ Daniel Gospic finished second with 14 fish (1 cup) and 17845 points. Cesar Bustelo from Beuchat 2 reached the third place with 14575 points. The biggest catch of the Master came from the Italian Giacomo de Mola who finished 8th. De Mola caught a 5.095 gr smooth grouper.
